Complete Baseball Record Book 1998 (Serial)
Published in Paperback by Sporting News (January, 1998)
Authors: Craig Carter and Sporting News
Average review score:

The ultimate source for records in Major League Baseball.
This book is a great resource for looking up baseball records. It contains sections with records on a team by team basis, regular season, all star game, divisional series, L.C.S., and world series. With this book you can go through the entire baseball season comparing how the achievements of the players this season compare to the all-time records. This book is very well organized, making it easy to find just the record you are looking for. I also find it enjoyable just thumbing through the book and finding some of the more interesting and obscure records I might not have found. This book also contains lists ranking the all-time best players in many different catagories which makes it easy to compare current players to the greats of the past. In summary , I would highly reccomend this to any baseball fan.

Complete Idiot's Guide to Running a Bed and Breakfast
Published in Paperback by Alpha Books (04 February, 2001)
Authors: Susannah Craig and Park Davis
Average review score:

For anyone contemplating purchasing or starting your own B&B
As a former Inn owner I found the book extremely informative. I actually purchased the book as a gift for a friend who is opening a Bed N Breakfast. I was very impressed with the wide range of topics covered. Such as buying in bulk, reservation scripts, cancellation policys, when a laundry service makes sense, hiring employees, and the "do you have what it takes to run a B&B test". I could have saved a lot of time and money if this book had been available when I was first starting out.

Concrete Construction and Estimating
Published in Paperback by Craftsman Book Co (May, 1980)
Authors: Craig Avery and Portland Cement Association
Average review score:

Comprehensive instructions for doing the job right
I am very impressed with how much information there is about every aspect of concrete construction. How to build forms, even very complex forms on huge projects, tips on pouring and finishing, even stripping the forms. Very detailed but not boring, and written in a nice conversational style. There are black and white pictures throughout. It's probably one of the most comprehensive books you will find on the subject.

The section on estimating, while I haven't had the time to go through it in detail, looks good too.

Overall, an excellent value.

The Confederate Cherokees: John Drew's Regiment of Mounted Rifles
Published in Hardcover by Louisiana State University Press (July, 1989)
Author: W. Craig Gaines
Average review score:

Unraveling the Mystery: Cherokee Nation Politics
Being of Cherokee decent and having been raised in the heart of the Cherokee nation, I was immediately intrigued when I saw this title. The mystery of the internal conflicts and relations within the Cherokee Nation has been an interest of mine ever since I was a child hearing the oral stories. The stories were confusing then, and after reading Gaines' book, I now have a better grasp of the situation that was responsible for tearing apart the land I was reared-in and the people who were rearing me. Gaines does an excellent job of researching a subject that has very few sources available, and his writing style is smooth and concise. This is a very dense book; the information is packed in tightly. However, for a book on regimental history, I found it an easy read full of insight into a nation that to this day is still divided on issues that plagued them before the Civil War.

Constructed Wetlands in the Sustainable Landscape
Published in Paperback by John Wiley & Sons (22 April, 1999)
Authors: Craig S. Campbell and Michael Ogden
Average review score:

Great All-around Guide for Constructed Wetlands
This book has become an invaluable reference around our office...for the engineers, landscape architect and directors. The book covers a range of useful topics, from design basics (including relevant modeling formulas), pricing estimates, integration information for planners, citizens and regulators, wetland ecology background notes, landscaping ideas and wonderful examples of systems that the authors themselves have designed and installed.

The book highlights the benefits of wetlands often overlooked or undervalued in other engineering-oriented texts - wildlife habitat creation, aesthetics, water recharge, etc.

Since the book was writen by a landscape architect and an engineer, two visionary pioneers in their fields, it covers a lot of useful ground.

Consuming Environments: Television and Commercial Culture (Communications, Media and Culture Series)
Published in Hardcover by Rutgers University Press (February, 1999)
Authors: Mike Budd, Steve Craig, Clay Steinman, and Clayton M. Steinman
Average review score:

Thought-provoking and thorough
This book is rich with ideas and provides a thought-provoking analysis of television and its impact on culture. It would no doubt be interesting to anthropologists of modern culture, sociologists, and the general public. We often forget about the powerful influence of this pervasive medium, but its impact is undeniable. By making this implicit impact explicit, Consuming Environments helps us become more reflective consumers of television content.

Contemporary Illustrations for Preachers, Teachers, and Writers
Published in Paperback by Baker Book House (July, 2000)
Author: Craig Brian Larson
Average review score:

"...will paint a picture of your point in vivid color. "
Illustrations certainly punch up a sermon but the right illustration, that your audience can relate to, will paint a picture of your point in vivid color. Larson has collected a fine group of contemporary illustrations well worth the price of this volume. In fact, if you only get one from it, it is worth the price.

CPA's opinion of Contractor's Guide to Quickbooks Pro
I consider this book to be the best on the market for contractors who use quickbooks. I recommend this to clients who use Quickbooks and are in the contstruction industry, or any other line of work that uses job costing. It has many illustrations which make it easy for bookkeepers for whom English is a second language.

The attached CD-ROM is a nice addition which can help contractors who are just getting started get their books set up quickly.

Small Contractors Take Heed!
If you are a small contractor using Quickbooks Pro 2001 or any other version, then this book is for you. In addition to teaching you how to set up your books correctly, it also includes a CD with National Estimator and Job Cost Wizard. These two programs let you create detailed estimates and export them to Quickbooks so that you do not have to retype them saving you hours of time. It's a bargain!
